Hi there! Thanks for checking out my video. I’m a beginner at cooking, and I wanted to document my progress, share my recipes and hopefully inspire other beginners to hop into the kitchen!
These empanadas were inspired by the absolutely delicious ones my grandma always makes! My recipe has a few changes, based on the ingredients I can usually find and the best way I’ve been able to mimic the flavor of hers. I really love how versatile and simple this recipe can be once you’re used to making it. It can be a little bit time consuming, but it’s so worth it to see the happy smiles on the faces of whoever tastes them!

Dough:
240 g flour
120 g butter
60-65 g water
5 g sugar
pinch of salt
Instructions:
1. Mix the flour, salt and sugar in a large bowl
2. Add in cold cubed butter
3. Softly combine the flour and butter with your fingertips
4. Once combined add in water gradually and mix until a dough is formed (it should not be very sticky or crumbly)
5. Rest for 20 to 30 minutes in the fridge
6. allow to soften before rolling out
7. roll out thinly and cut into rounds, then roll rounds even thinner
8. These wrappers can be stored in the fridge until ready to be filled
Filling:
1lb Turkey
About 1/2 tbsp soy sauce
About 1 tbsp Ketchup or tomato paste
3 large dashes Cumin
2 dashes Coriander
1 dash Paprika
1 dash White pepper
Black pepper
Salt
Salsa:
1/2 onion
1/2 bunch of cilantro
2 pieces of garlic
Instructions:
1. Add a bit of oil to you pan
2. Add meat, break it up and leave it alone to brown
3. Once browned add in spices
4. Once meat is cooked, add in salsa, and ketchup
5. Allow to cool
6. Fill the empanada wrappers with about a spoonful of filling
7. Bake at 350 degrees F for 30-40 minutes
