Hello and welcome to Old Ways Gardening and Prepping. ๐ Would like to welcome you to my backyard garden on this beautiful cool day to harvest organically grown beautiful Leutschauer paprika. This will be my first harvest of them so far this year.
This beautiful heirloom paprika pepper has a long history. They first started growing them in Leutschau, Slovakia then they were brought to Matufred, Hungary in the beginning of the 1800s.The medium-hot paprikas have great flavor, are terrific for drying, and make a delicious spicyย paprika powder. Apparently from what I have read they are also a very rare pepper and it’s rarely grown in the United States.
Personally find this pepper as a beautiful plant good strong stems and has grown very well through the drought. Would have loved to see how it grows in one of our regular growing seasons. I am definitely impressed with this paprika variety even though it is very spicy and I’ll have to be careful who eats it around me other than that it is truly an amazing pepper. Definitely will continue to grow it and look forward to using it in many recipes.
Hope that this video encourages you to also grow your own paprika peppers. However I do have to say please do your research before you buy any seeds and make sure that they are actually really sweet and mild paprika peppers. Cause this pepper is known in Hungary for its spiciness and that is why it is beloved there. Everyone take care and have a blessed day.
Blessings,
Teresa
