Dr. Rebecca Beausaert discusses women’s work on Ontario tobacco farms in the second half of the twentieth century. Often ignored is the important culinary labour women performed as they were expected to cook daily meals for the farm’s workers. This lecture will illuminate how the job of cooking, though underappreciated, was integral to a successful tobacco harvest each year.
Dr. Rebecca Beausaert is an Adjunct Professor in the Department of History at the University of Guelph.
