Leutschauer Paprika is a wonderful pepper from Hungary. It is originally from Leutschau in Slovakia, but it was brought to Matufred in Hungary in the early 1800’s. The plant grows to about 60 cm tall, a prolific producer and easy to grow.

My mate Harry was up and wanted to join in on a test so today he joins in as we have a crack at the Leutschauer Paprika, thanks for joining in and all ya help mate, can’t wait till get some superhots happening for ya to join in on one of those

The Plants get bushy and grow to around 60 cm tall in pots, really productive, the pods are thin walled, about 7 cm long and 4 cm wide and ripen from green to a bright red. They are normally used for drying into a premium hot paprika powder.
What’s it Like?
How Hot is It?

Juicy, crunchy and sweet, no capsicum flavour, just sweetness, they are beautiful

Heat hit half way through chewing and in the back of the throat, once finished chewing the rest of the mouth caught up and had a nice glow, a deep burn about medium heat, we put it in between a jalapeno and a birdseye, didn’t really build and just stayed at the same level.

Excellent for drying, stuffed, chilli jam and powders. When you dry them, it brings out the flavour and makes a great paprika. It is perfect for making your own Paprika powder!
