Ingredients
6-8 big potatoes
1 onion
3 cloves garlic
3 bay leaves
1-2 tbsps margarine
1 tbsp all-purpose flour
200 ml sour cream
water as needed
salt to taste
1 tsp garlic powder
1-2 tsps paprika
1 tsp sugar
Instructions
Skin and cube potatoes, wash clean then place in a pan. Put a sum of water enough to cover the potatoes, not too much, just enough.
Halved onion, thinly slice or chop 1 half, place in the pot along with the potatoes; add salt and sugar to taste and also 3 bay leaves. Bring to boil until potatoes are tender.
Meanwhile, chop or thinly slice the other half of the onion, do the same with the garlics, place in a bowl, mix in 1 tsp garlic powder and salt, stir well.
When the potatoes are tender, turn down heat; now it’s time to make roux. Melt 2 tbsps margarine and add in 1 tbsp of flour, do NOT burn.
Pour roux into the pot, turn up the heat, add in paprika and also the onion mixture, stir well.
Just before turning off the stove, add in sour cream, stir well. Krumplifőzelék is ready to serve 🙂
