This is a quick dinner or lunch option—something homemade and filling, but without too much effort. Let’s cook!
Ingredients:
Ground meat – 600 g (I used a mix of beef and pork)
Onions – 2 pcs
Canned tomatoes in their juice – 1 can (400 g)
Garlic – about 10 cloves
Greek yogurt or sour cream (optional)
Flour – 3 cups
Oil – 3 tbsp
Egg – 1 pc
Salt, pepper, smoked paprika
Fresh herbs
Dough Preparation:
Make sure all ingredients are prepped in advance because the dough comes together very quickly.
Mix the flour, 1 cup of boiling water, egg, oil, and a pinch of salt.
Stir carefully with a spoon first (as the dough will be hot).
If needed, add a little more flour, but don’t overdo it—the dough should be elastic.
Knead the dough and wrap it in plastic wrap; place it in the fridge while making the filling.
Filling Preparation:
Blend together ground meat, onions, and 3-5 cloves of garlic (you can use a blender).
Add a few tablespoons of water and 2-3 tablespoons of yogurt or sour cream for tenderness.
Season with your favorite spices. The filling should be creamy in consistency.
Assembling the Rolls:
Roll out the dough into a thin rectangle (about 3mm thick).
Spread the meat filling evenly, leaving a 2-3 cm gap on one long side.
Roll it into a log and cut into 3-4 cm thick pieces.
Sauce Preparation & Cooking:
Sauté chopped onions, then add canned tomatoes, garlic, salt, and pepper.
Adjust the flavor with a bit of sugar if needed.
Place the meat rolls close together in the sauce, add enough water to cover, and simmer with a lid on for about 20 minutes.
Sprinkle with fresh herbs and simmer for another 10 minutes.
Serve with sour cream or yogurt.
👉 Tip: You can also add carrots, leeks, or bell peppers to the sauce for extra flavor. Experiment and enjoy! 😊🍽️
