Nothing screams weekend more than a plate of sticky drumsticks! I love to experience a burst of notes on my palate. I love layered tastes surrendering on my taste buds one after the other. And let me tell you Maina, my chili paprika drumsticks in an orange whiskey bbq sauce delivered😋🔥🔥!!!
By my usual method, I would precook the chicken before frying but my Philips Airfryer did not require that step which shortened the amount of time I spent cooking. After marinating, you simply season and they go right in. I used just two tablespoons of oil, which was faaaaar better than the deep-frying I would have alternatively done.
In terms of electricity consumption, this used only 0.2 of a token.
Here is the recipe:
Ingredients
To marinate:
6 drumsticks
2 tablespoons of balsamic vinegar
1 tablespoon of soy sauce
1 tablespoon of orange zest
1/2 teaspoon of dried thyme
2 sprigs of fresh rosemary
4 cloves of minced garlic
1 tbs minced ginger
Dash of salt & Pepper
To season
2 tablespoons of vegetable oil
1/4 teaspoon of chili flakes
1 teaspoon of paprika
1/2 teaspoon of turmeric
1 teaspoon of onion powder
1 teaspoon of garlic powder
1/4 teaspoon of cumin
For the sauce
1/2 red onion, diced
3 cloves of garlic, minced
1/4 cup ketchup
2 tablespoons of honey
a dash of chili
3 tablespoons of whiskey
1 tablespoon of orange zest
Method:
Begin by marinating the drumsticks. Place the marination ingredient in, mix and let them sit for 6-24 hours. Once done, dump into your bowl, add the spices for seasoning as well as a dash of salt and pepper and then pop them in your @PhilipsHomeLivingKenya Airfryer. Let them cook at 180c for 24 minutes.
As that is going, make the bbq sauce. Sautee the red onion and garlic until softened and fragrant. Add in the remaining ingredients and let this simmer on low for 5 to 10 min then baste the chicken once they are done. Give them an additional 5 minutes to get nice and sticky and you are done!
