This Game Day Chili Dog Recipe is really easy, it tastes good, and only take about 2 hours to make. The key to a good chili dog sauce is it has to be simple and the meat needs to be broken down into tiny pieces.
The Chili Dogs Recipe is as follows:
2 pounds 80/20 Ground Beef (brown in a pan and strain out the fat)
(2) 14.5 oz cans of beef broth
2 tablespoons El Yucateco Jalapeno Sauce
2 Tablespoons Chili Powder
2 Tablespoons Smoked Paprika
1 Tablespoon Onion Powder
1 Tablespoon Garlic Powder
(1) 28 oz can crushed tomatoes
Salt to taste
To make the chili dog sauce, combine the ground beef and two cans of beef broth. Bring to the boil and then reduce the heat to medium low and simmer for about 30 minutes.
After the mixture has simmered for 30 minutes, add the remaining ingredients and simmer until the sauce becomes very thick.
I cooked my hot dogs in the drum smoker for 30 minutes at 275 degrees F.
Toast your hot dog buns.
