Beef Shawarma
Ingredients:
2 tbsp cooing oil
2 lb steak (preferably ribeye or top sirloin)
1 onion
4 garlic cloves
5 cloves
2 bay leaves
½ tsp. black pepper
1 stick cinnamon
½ cup water
Directions:
Add 2 tbsp of oil to pan and and heat on medium-high, sear meat for 2 minutes on each side.
Place meat in crockpot and add remaining ingredients.
Cook on high for 4 hours.
discard all seasonings and shred the meat.
In a shallow pan heat one tablespoon of cooking oil on med-low heat and add Shawerma meat and spices below:
½ tsp. cumin
½ tsp. coriander
½ tsp. garlic powder
½ tsp. black pepper
½ tsp ginger
¼ tsp. ground cloves
¼ tsp. paprika
1/8 cinnamon
1/8 tsp. turmeric
2 tbsp. salt
1 tsp. sumac
** spice mix for 2 lbs of steak (preferably top sirloin or ribeye), you can half the recipe if needed**
Garlic Spread
Ingredients:
1 cup water
2 tbsp. cornstarch
1 tbsp. vinegar
1 tbsp. minced garlic (about 6 cloves)
¼ cup oil
1 tsp. salt
Directions:
In a pan mix water and cornstarch over medium heat until thickened. Let it cool.
In a blender add cooled cornstarch mixture and remaining ingredients and blend until smooth.
Sumac and red onion salad
Ingredients:
1 small red onion, sliced
2 tbsp. olive oil
1 tsp. sumac
Direction: Mix all ingredients in a bowl.
