Biryani is a very special rice popular throughout the Indian subcontinent. This Sri Lankan style Biryani recipe is easy to follow and packed with flavour & goodness. It is best served hot/ heated. Biryani is perfect to enjoy on any special occasions!
Below are the halved ingredient quantities:
500 g Basmati rice
75 ml Oil
3 tbsp Ghee
125 g Onion
1-2 cinnamon sticks
1 star spice
2-3 cloves
2-3 cardamom pods
Some pandan leaves
Some curry leaves
1 Bay leaf
1 tbsp Ginger paste
1 tbsp Garlic paste
125 g Tomato (diced)
125 g Potato (diced)
1 cup Coriander/ Cilantro
1 small green chilli
500 g Beef
½ cup Curd/ Greek yoghurt
¼ cup Tomato sauce
1 tbsp Paprika
1 tbsp Coriander powder
1 ½ tsp Turmeric powder
1 tbsp Cumin powder
1 ½ tsp Pepper
1 tbsp Salt (to taste)
2 ½ cups Water
½ tsp Yellow food colouring
1 tsp Rose Essence
1 ½ tbsp salt- when cooking the rice
