Hello everyone. Welcome back to Lee’s Camp Cooking channel. This video is about “Paprika Chicken | A Flavourful Hungarian Classic”.

Today I’m cooking Paprika Chicken, also known as Chicken Paprikash, it’s so simple and only requires a few ingredients, however it tastes amazing, so good, for such few ingredients. It is really economical to make and the whole family will love it. This dish originates from Hungary. Some people don’t add the sour cream to the sauce, they just past the sour cream around when eating. Either way, it is so tasty.

It takes about 40 minutes from start to finish.

You can use any pieces of chicken, but I recommend using chicken pieces with the bone in, there is so much more flavour with the bone in, and this cooking method results in tender, moist chicken.

I would also use a good quality paprika powder and would use sweet paprika. I’m using a paprika powder that Mike’s mum sent me from Germany, it was really delicious and had a bit of a spice kick to it.

You can use a bit of butter and olive oil instead of lard, lard just adds to the flavour of the dish. Or you can use bacon fat, which would be yum.

Let me know if you make this dish, I guarantee you’ll love it.

Here’s the measurements:

1 1/2 kg (3 lbs) of chicken pieces, bone in and skin on
1 medium onion, diced
150 mls sour cream
1 tablespoon of plain flour or corn-starch
salt
3 small cloves of garlic
2 big tablespoons of paprika powder
1 1/2 cups of chicken stock (350mls)

lard for frying the chicken
