European Studies thrives on diversity and intercultural exchange. One of the high points of every semester is our Cultural Fair, in which students from all over the world prepare and exchange food, art, music and dance that are important to their cultures. This is one of many events put on indefinite hold by COVID-19, but thanks to YouTube, we were able to keep the spirit of cultural exchange a live with an online Cross-Cultural Cooking Contest. We asked our students to make videos about cooking or baking things that matter to them and make them feel at home, and let them vote on the best videos. Many of the contestants agreed to let us share their videos, including this prize-winning demonstration of Dürüm, a popular Turkish dish that’s important to first-year student Daniel.
