In my childhood, my mother always used to make potato salad for us. She was using many ingredients, but when I ask her today her potato salad recipe , she only lists a few classic ingredients. But that is not enough for me to create the best potato salad in my dreams.
When it comes to potato salad, dressing plays a crucial role. So, for the last year, I have been trying different potato salad dressing recipes that I created on my own, and finally, I created a wonderful recipe! Do not mind that I tried for so long, it is still a very easy potato salad recipe.
If you like potato salad with mustard, but if you want a healthier version and do not want to include mayonnaise, wait for the best potato salad without mayonnaise which sounds like a “classic” ingredient, but it is not. Actually, I think that mayonnaise (even vegan mayonnaise) makes potato salad heavy. Yes, it creates a tasty potato salad, but what is the point if you feel heavy and too-full after eating it? I believe that potato salad should be delicious, dense in flavors, but it should make you feel light and healthy while eating.
So, how to make potato salad that sounds so delicious and also healthy? As this recipe is also vegan, we will also learn how to make potato salad without eggs which also is, in come cuisines, like a must-add ingredient. But it is not in this case. As I mentioned before, we will also see how to make potato salad without mayonnaise. Even without these very mainstream potato salad ingredients, you will see that this recipe will be very easy to follow. It may sound no-classic, but from now on, this is my way to prepare a classic potato salad!
I will use some of my favorite ingredients such as dill, garlic and pecans. Dill potato salad is very delicious and works very well with all the other yummies in this salad. When it comes to pecans, oh my God, they add such a nice, nutty flavor into this healthy potato salad. I strongly recommend you to use it!
When it comes to temperature, people also differ; I like to eat a warm potato salad (but not too warm), but this is special to the time when I just prepared it that day. After it gets cool for sure, and I don’t bother heating it up. So, I like it cold and warm, both. How do you like yours?
