This garlic turmeric rice is very simple to make and it tastes amazing that it can be eaten on its own. But to complete a perfect meal, the paprika chicken is an excellent complimentary side dish that goes very well with the rice.
GARLIC TURMERIC RICE
INGREDIENTS
• 3 cups Basmati or white long grain rice
• 3/4 cup Shallots (chopped)
• 4-5 cloves garlic (finely chopped)
• 2 tbsp turmeric powder
• 2 tbsp maggie sauce
• 2 tbsp worcestershire sauce
• 1 cup green peas (fresh or frozen)
• 1/2 cup unsalted butter
• 1/2 cup parsley (finely chopped)
• salt & pepper for taste
• vegetable oil
INSTRUCTIONS
• In a skillet or wok, heat 2 tbsp vegetable oil over medium-high heat.
• Saute shallots about a couple of minutes
• Saute garlic about 1 minute
• add rice and stir
• add turmeric and continue stirring until the rice turns yellow
• add worcestershire and maggie sauce
• add salt & pepper for taste
• add green peas and parsley
• add butter
CHICKEN PAPRIKA RECIPE
INGREDIENTS
• 8 pieces of chicken thighs
• 2 tbsp dry paprika
• 2 tbsp dry oregano
• 1 tbsp dry thyme
• 1 tbsp dry onion
• 1.5 tbsp salt
• 1 tbsp ground black pepper
• 1 tbsp cayenne
• 1 tbsp dry cumin
• 2 tbsp dry garlic powder
• 2 tbsp lime juice (optional)
• 1/2 cup vegetable oil
INSTRUCTIONS
• combine and mix the spices, lemon and oil in a large bowl
• add and coat the chicken with the spice mix
• place chicken on an oven pan/dish and and bake at 375 deg. F for 20-25 minutes
• turn over the chicken thighs and bake for another 20-25 minutes
