*NEW* THANKSGIVING DISHES || THANKSGIVING PREP WITH ME!

Hi everyone and welcome to my Thanksgiving Dishes/Thanksgiving Prep with me video, I am so HAPPY you are here and I really hope you enjoy today’s video. In today’s video we are preparing my moms Thanksgiving dishes, to prep me for Thanksgiving day. My mom came over on a Sunday and basically prepared these dishes while I helped, just a little lol, observed and learned, so I could make these dishes myself for Thanksgiving day, (I have never hosted for Thanksgiving before!) we had family and friends over on this day and we all enjoyed this delicious meal. The recipes are listed below. (I hope I wrote the recipes down okay!?) THANK YOU so very much for watching!

TURKEY:
Pre Heat over to 375 degrees
10-12 pound turkey, thaw as directed or buy fresh
Wash and dry turkey, save neck, gizzard, etc and place under rack or bottom of pan (saving for gravy)
Wash and cut 2 carrots, 2 celery stalk (Whole) and one small onion and place under rack
Set Turkey onto rack or on top of veggies and neck/gizzard
Place sage and thyme in turkey cavity and/or bottom of pan

In another bowl blend butter/seasoning rub, this butter mix includes,
1/4 cup soft butter
1/8 cup oil (grape seed oil is what we used)
salt/pepper
1 tsp of poultry seasoning, paprika, ground mustard, dried parsley and thyme and 1/2 tsp turmeric, rub mixture all over turkey and under skin.

Additional Dry Seasonings sprinkled around the turkey, you can use whatever seasonings you like, we used parsley, ground mustard, turmeric, sage, poultry seasoning, paprika and salt/pepper.
We also used “Better Than Bouillon” I believe chicken flavored or veggie flavored, use a small amount, maybe a tsp, its strong. We then tied the turkey using kitchen string, we put turkey stock in the pot and covered with Tin foil. Place in over at 375 degrees, bake 3.5 hours (15 min for every pound) or until internal temp is 165 or over. Let sit for 30 min.

STUFFING:
1 package of bread crumbs, we use sage and onion pre packaged bread crumbs, 1 package of pork sausage, we used Jimmy Dean reg. sausage, finely chop 2 celery stalks, and 1/2 small onion. 1 tsp of thyme, 8 fresh sage leaves. You can add more seasonings that you like.
Cook sausage and set aside in bowl. In the same pan you cooked the sausage melt 1/2 stick of butter and add the celery and onion as well as sage and thyme. Add salt and pepper. Simmer until veggies are soften. Add the sausage to the bread crumbs and mix. Add 2 to 3 cups turkey stalk until bread crumbs are moist. Beat 2 eggs and add to the dressing. Grease or spray a 9 X 12 pan baking dish and pour dressing in the baking dish. Bake at 375 for 30 min. Good time to cook this is when your turkey is resting.

MASHED POTATOES:
5lb bag of russet or yukon potatoes
boil until tender, then mash or rice, add 1 stick butter, 1/2 cup milk, mix together, put in oven and bake at 375 degrees for 30 min. (I would add cream cheese to my potatoes and my mom adds little crumbles of butter after it bakes. I would also add more salt/pepper, paprika and parsley to the potatoes mixture.

FRUIT SALAD:
1 Package of strawberries, tops cut off, we cut them into fours, 2 15oz cans of mandarin oranges drained, 1 small bunch of green grapes, we cut the grapes in half, 2 granny smith apples, and 2 honey crisp apples, we cut all apples into chunks, and 2-3 bananas.
Whipping Cream (You can use 1 tub of cool whip, but we made our own.) 1pint of heavy whipping cream, 2tsps of vanilla and 1/4 cup confectioner sugar. With a mixer on high speed, just mix the whipping cream until you form soft peaks, then add the vanilla and sugar, keep mixing until you form stiff peaks.
Mix fruit and whipping cream together.

CRANBERRY RELISH:
1 cup water
1 cup sugar
1 12oz package fresh cranberries
1 Green Apple
1 Green Pear
1 15oz can mandarin oranges drained
1 20oz can pineapple tidbits drained
1/4 cup orange juice
1/2 tsp salt and 1 tsp pumpkin spice
In large saucepan boil water and sugar until sugar dissolves. Reduce heat to simmer, and add all the rest of the ingredients. Simmer for 30 minutes, stirring occasionally until cranberries burst. Remove from heat and let cool.

PUMPKIN PIE is super easy, we used pre package pie crust, 1 can of Walmart Pumpkin pie and follow instructions on the back LOL! Its good! (My mom uses evaporated milk with milk, she uses both to make 1 full cup.

VEGGIE DIP:
1 8 oz container sour cream
8 oz of mayonnaise
1 tbls dried parsley
1 tsp seasoning salt (I like more salt)
1 tsp dill (I like more dill)
Mix everything well together and refrigerate over night!
